Welcome to my creative world.

I live in Chicago with my hubby and two beautiful girls aged 8  9 and 3  4

A little bit about me and how I came to be here. After I finished my college, I studied science, electronics at that, I was looking to do something different. I wanted to be in the creative world. So I studied Fashion design and Pottery for a few years. I dabbled into working in that industry but soon realized that being creative and working for someone else just didn’t work out for me. My dad became more and more insistent that I follow his footsteps and study Law. After several years of practicing Law, there was this nagging sensation that something was lacking. Eventually after the birth of my second daughter, in my sleep deprived state, I figured that I had to give way to my creative side. That is when this blog was born. My original passion was to create wonderful recipes and share them. As with most Indian women, cooking is more or less ingrained since childhood. I learned cooking from my Mom and several aunts. I wanted to make use of my knowledge of cooking with my newfound baking skills and create something that I could share with others but also with my daughters down the line. When I started the blog, I quickly realized that there is no blog without good photography so I started working on my photography. Slowly things improved.

When my children were born, I could sense a change come over me. I no longer wanted the super-fast paced lifestyle where I didn’t think anything of answering emails at 4 AM. I want to really live life and enjoy every moment of it. I want those snuggles with kids albeit we can enjoy those only on week-ends. We try to eat as much seasonal food as we can. I surround myself with plants and we are hoping to really start a good kitchen garden soon where at least some portion of the year we can grow our own food. I would like to share this improved sense of health and wellbeing with you. I would like to share my kitchen and garden mishaps with you and let’s all grow together to make a beautiful world.

Here are couple of images of my lovely kitchen where I love to spend my time creating recipes or just drinking a cup of tea.

All the photos and recipes are my own unless otherwise stated. Please do not use any photos or recipes without express permission. I would love to work with you, please email me at ilathlete@gmail.com

It is developed by someone like you who is a Indian mom/wife/daughter who is passionate about technology and in need of new recipes. This platform is aimed at addressing the love for Indian food by creating:

    > A one stop shop for all Indian food related information.
    > Create a democratic platform for home cooks to get noticed, appreciated and rewarded.
    > Share the creative ways people are exploring Indian food – In fact going by number of Indian food blogs it’s quite evident that the real fun in Indian food is happening in the kitchens of Indian homes and not in star restaurants & cooking schools. Therefore, we also want this to be a platform for home cooks to get together and share ideas. We believe this platform would truly democratize the Indian food blogger community and give an equal opportunity for everyone to succeed.

The current services are just a beginning and we will be adding additional functionalities that will truly make this a global platform for Indian food.
